Viajando por... Ecuador? (Parte 1) / Traveling through... Ecuador? (Part 1)

Comenzó a hablar y dijo: "JELOU MAI FREN, MAI NAIM IS DÁVID AN AI UIL BI YOR TUR GAI TUDEI"....!!! (ojo... no DEIVID... sino DÁVID!!)... obviamente lo que intentó decir fue: "Hello my friends, my name is David and I will be your tour guide today"...

"FOS, UI UIL BI SUIMIN ABAU TU, TRI MITRUS ONDER UATER..."

"OKEI, IS YU AR SUIMIN AN AY DO DIS... IS SI TORTOL..

ENGLISH

Hi everyone!

This is my firt post in 2011, so before anything... Happy belayed New Year!

That being said, I'll tell you what I've been up to lately.

I've been a little lost for many reasons, but the most important is that from january 5th, till february 4th I was lucky to recieve the visit of two argentinian friends that stayed in my house, and we where traveling through Ecuador.

Everytime I want to make a vacation trip, the first thing on my mind are places like Europe, Argentina, USA... anywhere, but Ecuador. This is because I live here and I always think is an option to "make a little trip through Ecuador"... but I've never really donde, till recently.

With my friends visit (who from now on I will call Lud and Euge), came the plan to make them know how pretty Ecuador is. The fisrt encounter, however, wasn't very "pleasant"...

They came on a wednesday night and on friday we planed to go to our first destiny: Salinas (a beach near Guayaquil). We made the arrangements with two more friends to leave on friday night (something we always do...) and when they came to pick us up, we where loading the car (and this I will tell in a very short version), WE WERE ASSAULTED!

To say that they were "lucky", I tell you that ONLY THEY got something left: Lud had her bag and Euge her purse... the rest of us got CLEAN!

I was dying with embarrassment!, poor girls, they just got here and they got "BAPTISED", and the worst part of all, outside my house...

That assault, with we, as I told the girls joking, "didn't count on", FUCKED our weekend. Anyway, the girls were very possitive and thought that "a thing like that wasn't gonna ruin their entire trip".

The first thing we did after the assault, was going to Nobol, a little place on the north of Guayaquil, place were the Saint Narcisa de Jesus was born. It is also known because of its food, specially the cheese. When we got there we went to eat and have a tour in the river on a canoe, but the best part was THE PICTURE!. There was a stand that a man had, where you could take a picture with a LAMA (south american camelid) and a PONY... that were DISSECTED! they were scary! I OBVIOUSLY took a picture with them, but since we udes Lud's camera and my cellphone, the man charged me $1 (If he took it with his camera I had to pay $24, if he gave it to me as a frame, with glass and everything!)

We where also in Playas and Salinas, and In Guayaquil we went to "MADRÁS", a friends bar and restaurant.

After sightseeing a little bit through Guayaquil and its "surroundings", we began to "travel" for real. The first destiny: Galapagos Islands.

I was in Galápagos many years ago in a cruise with my family and since then I always wanted to go back. I took advantage of having free time, money and OBVIOUSL_Y the company, to go back.

We got to Galapagos to the Island of Baltra, where one of the airports is, but we stayed in Santa Cruz, that's a little boat ride away. We stayed for 5 days and believe me, IT WAS TOO SHORT. When we got to Baltra, we had a bus waiting that was gonna take us where the boats that crossed to Santa Cruz were, and from there we had to take another bus for a few minutes to get to the center of the Island, were everything was. In one of those bus rides, we had to seat separetly and Euge sat next to a MAN... Turns out that that man was a tour guide and started to offer a tour thrugh Floreana Island, where we could do snorkeling and learn some history, because in that Island the got pirates, etc. We decided to go on the tour, so we called him to settle everything.

David, the tour guide, is a character. To beggin with, when he told us that he was picking us up at 7:20am and saw our lazy faces, he got angry and said "I believe you came to Galapagos to know about nature... if you want to sleep, you have the night!"... (Obviously for us the night was for PARTYING... but we didn't say a word).

The next morning, we met with him and the rest of the group. When we got on the boat the fun began. David started to talk and introduced himself with the group... all of this IN ENGLISH. David's english was the best part of the tour. He started to talk and said: "JELOU MAI FREN, MAI NAIM IS DÁVID AN AI UIL BI YOR TUR GAI TUDEI"....!!! (listen... not DEIVID as it sound in english... but DÁVID!!)... obviously what he meant was: "Hello my friends, my name is David and I will be your tour guide today"...

PArt of the tour was to go snorkeling in two places and he told us the importance of knowing the signs that we could make underwater in different circumstances. It began like this:

"FOS, UI UIL BI SUIMIN ABAU TU, TRI MITRUS ONDER UATER..."

Lud, Euge and I thought "WTF!?" and then we understood... everytime that he talked and said "FOS"... he meant "FIRST", that among many other funny words like "MITRUS" (meters), etc. I think that to keep telling this story I'll need a "DÁVID-SPANISH DICTIONARY" and a "DÁVID-ENGLISH DICTIONARY...

He began to teach us the signs to go "ESNORKI" (snorkeling)... they were something like this:

"OKEI, IS YU AR SUIMIN AN AY DO DIS... IS SI TORTOL.. " (Ok, if you are swiming and I do this: Is sea turtle"... after that he explained the signs for "SI LAYON, STIN REY, and CHARK...." meaning "sea lion, stingray and shark"... he also explained to us the signs for "OKEI, NO MOR, DENYER".. (Ok, no more, danger)... but the best was the whole speech: "STOP, DENYER, CHARK, NO MOR"!!! (Stop, danger, shark, no more). Unfortunately my cellphone died and I couldn tape him... that would've been "PRAISLES" !! (Priceless)

The rest of the days were amazing. We went to different places, but only in Santa Cruz Island because we had no time to go to the others. We where at the Ninfas lagoon, Las Grietas, Tortuga Bay (spectacular), El Garrapatero, Charles Darwin Station, Lava Tunnels...

Something else that was nice was running into two friends of mine Bene and Gaby... we made a nice gruop with their friends also and had a BLAST!

After Galapagos, we had Quito waiting for us and of course... MONTAÑITA, too, but I'll leave that for another post because this one's too long and you'll get bored!!...

I leave some pictures for you.

Kisses to everyone!!!
